This post for Homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream is Day 7 of the 12 days of a Foodie’s Christmas series! For 12 days I’ll be presenting you with recipes for easy gifts for everyone on your list! For the overview and the rest of the recipes you can visit here.
Day 7 my just be my favorite day of all. I discovered this recipe last year when my mom’s coworker gave her a bottle as a Christmas gift. Perhaps that’s when I fell in love with this whole Foodie gift thing. The ability to give someone a gift, show you appreciate and care about them, but the gifts aren’t so extravagant that the recipient feels awkward if they don’t have anything in return.
Anyways, I drank, well a whole lot of it, then I looked up the recipe and realized it was made with HEAVY CREAM. Oops! So in true “me” fashion, I got to work making it healthier. This recipe is indeed healthier, but you guys, it is by no means healthy. I didn’t want to lose what made this drink so delicious! It still should be consumed as a treat in moderation. So perhaps instead of a Christmas cookie, have a glass of this. Then instead of dessert after dinner, have a glass of this. And instead of a latte in the morning, have a glass… well you get the idea!
- 1⅔ cup Irish whiskey (I used Jameson's)
- 1 cup half and half
- 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup (I used Smucker's sugar free hot fudge)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend for about 30 seconds
- Store in a tightly sealed container and refrigerate.
- Shake before using.
