his post for Seasoned Salts is Day 5 of the 12 days of a Foodie’s Christmas series! For 12 days I’ll be presenting you with recipes for easy gifts for everyone on your list! For the overview and the rest of the recipes you can visit here.
Hey look, a non-boozy post! I promised you’d get at least one non-alcoholic gift post out of me. One or two.
I’m joking of course, several foodie gifts are coming your way, and a couple more boozy ones as well, so get ready! But today, a very versatile and unique gift. Homemade seasoned salts. More important Roasted Garlic salt and Bacon salt. Yes, you read that last one correctly, Bacon. Salt. Your popcorn on movie night just got waaaay better!
Here are some more ideas for using these salts!
Roasted Garlic Salt- Great on…
- Ok maybe not ice cream
For the roasted garlic salt I purchased roasted and dried garlic. You can roast fresh garlic, or buy fresh roasted garlic from the olive bar in your grocery store. I know salt is a preservative, but when I use fresh ingredients like roasted garlic (the dried being the exception) and the below bacon, I always store in the fridge, just in case. If you use fresh roasted garlic, chop finely!
Here’s what I used
- 2 Tbls Roasted Garlic
- ¼ cup coarse Kosher Salt
- mix ingredients together
- store in glass container
Bacon Salt- Delicious on…
- Sprinkled on avocado or tomato slices for a quick snack
- 3-4 slices bacon
- ¼ cup course Kosher salt
- Bake bacon in oven at 400* for 12-15 minutes until crispy
- drain on paper towel
- chop finely
- combine with salt and store in glass container in the fridge
